Important Update 2025: UK Student Visa Process

The UK Home Office has announced a significant change to the UK student visa process, effective 15th July 2025.

If you are applying for a UK student visa, please read carefully and follow the updated guidelines to avoid any delays or complications in your travel plans.

What’s Changing?

✅ The UK Embassy will no longer issue the 90-day visa vignette sticker in your passport.
✅ VFS will also stop collecting original passports during your appointment.
✅ Instead, successful applicants will receive their visa as a Digital eVisa, sent directly to the email address associated with their UKVI account.

What to Bring to Your VFS Appointment

When attending your VFS appointment, you must now carry the following:

  1. A full-colour printout of your entire passport (all pages, even if blank).
  2. One original government-issued ID (other than your passport) + a colour photocopy of it.

Make sure all documents are clear, complete, and legible.

After You Receive Your Visa Decision

Once your application is approved, follow these steps:

  1. Check your visa decision letter for instructions and create your UKVI account if you haven’t already.
  2. Log in to your UKVI account to access and verify your Digital eVisa.
  3. Link your passport to the eVisa before you travel to the UK.
  4. Generate a Share Code using your date of birth — this will allow you to share your visa status with your university or employer when required.

Important: Email Address

Ensure you provide an active and correct email ID in your application, as your Digital eVisa will be delivered there.

This move to a fully digital visa is designed to make the process faster, safer, and more convenient. Please communicate these changes to all students applying for UK student visas to ensure a smooth experience.

For any doubts or help with the process, feel free to reach out to your counsellor or the UKVI helpdesk.
