It has till now reported more than 17 million cases and setting global records for cases reported for a single day. It has reported more than 300000 cases in April itself and with it increasing the mortality rates too.

It is estimated that deaths will surpass 200000 in the month of April as the death count is hovering around 2700 per day and the situation on the ground is so tense that all projections point out that deaths counted per day will go north of what is already been recorded. One person is dying every four minutes in the capital of New Delhi and this grim situation has prompted aid from across the globe including the UK, US, France and Germany.

This unprecedented crisis has wreaked havoc on the health infrastructure which has been reeling under the pressure to provide uninterrupted medical aid to the infected persons. The surge in cases can be felt by the severe shortage of medical oxygen in some areas and the crematoriums which is running 24 hours to accommodate the surge in demand.
